Description
The practice of Holy Baptism as a rite of admission to church communion is integral to Anglicanism. So it has been throughout the church, with very few exceptions, from the start. Each version of the Book of Common Prayer has contained a baptismal liturgy that all have used, as 19th century disputes between rival schools of thought about particular phrases in the set service did not affect its universal acceptance. This essay cleared the ground for putting together a similarly acceptable baptismal liturgy, with theological agreement on all key points, for inclusion in the Book of Common Prayer 2019.
This pamphlet is offered here rather than under our CHURCH category because of its rich presentation of the rationale underpinning infant baptism—a subject of which many of today’s young parents are unsure.
